About The Old Engineer

Our rural boutique accommodation with private entrance and pretty courtyard garden is surrounded by fields. It is situated in the Kent countryside between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone. The space is designed with the guests comfort and luxury in mind. It is the perfect spot for a relaxing and peaceful get away.

The bed is super king sized with high quality Egyptian cotton bedding, we also offer the option of twin single beds, please request this when booking.

There’s a sofa to relax on, a smart HD TV with Free Sat channels and a comfortable dining area next to the well appointed kitchenette which includes; a Fridge with Freezer box; double induction hob; microwave; and sink. We provide bread, jams, butter, milk, fresh coffee and a variety of teas on arrival in the kitchenette, which you can prepare and enjoy at your own leisure. If you need the use of a washing machine or dryer please ask.

Situated between the towns of Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone our location is perfect to make the most of Kent’s fabulous attractions, including the gardens at Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle and Great Dixter. Bedgebury Pinetum offers lovely walks and various off road bike routes. In the area there are several highly acclaimed vineyards to visit many National Trust properties, excellent cycle and walking routes, and great shopping with a good mix of independently owned and top chain stores in Tunbridge Wells. The Hop Farm which holds a variety of events during the year  is a 10 minute drive. ‘The Garden’s’ a popular wedding venue just outside Yalding are less than a 5 minute drive away. We also benefit from some highly acclaimed restaurants and pubs in the area. Paddock wood train station is a 10 minute drive and London is just 50 minutes on the train.

Our home is on two popular cycle routes (Linton loop and the Paddock Wood loop), within the B&B’s private garden there is a shed where bikes can be stored.

We welcome bikers who are welcome to securely park their motor bikes in the enclosed garden, which also benefits from a gate than can be bolted.
