The Old Engineer is a peaceful boutique retreat surrounded by fields in the beautiful Kent countryside, between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone.
Designed with comfort, privacy and relaxation in mind, the accommodation has its own private entrance and pretty courtyard garden, giving you a peaceful place to unwind and enjoy your time together.

A comfortable space to relax
The main room has a comfortable super-king-size bed, made up with high-quality Egyptian cotton bedding for a relaxing night’s sleep.

If you would prefer twin beds, we can arrange the room with two single beds instead. Please let us know when you book.
There’s also a comfortable sofa where you can relax and a Smart HD TV with FreeSat channels if you fancy a quiet evening in.
The dining area provides a pleasant place to enjoy breakfast or a meal together, while the bi-fold doors allow the kitchenette to be closed away when you’re not using it.

The well-equipped kitchenette gives you the freedom to prepare a meal or a cup of coffee whenever you like.

Your private courtyard garden
One of the pleasures of staying at The Old Engineer is having your own private courtyard garden.
Surrounded by the Kent countryside, it’s a lovely place to sit, relax and enjoy the peaceful setting.
After a day exploring the area, you can return to your own little corner of the countryside and simply slow down.

The accommodation has its own ensuite shower room, providing everything you need for a comfortable stay.
Parking
There’s room for two guest cars on the drive. The gate to the private garden and front door is to the left of the garage.
A peaceful base for exploring Kent
The Old Engineer is ideally placed between Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone, making it easy to explore some of the best-known attractions and beautiful countryside in Kent.
You could spend your days visiting historic houses and gardens, walking through the countryside, cycling quiet lanes, discovering local vineyards or enjoying lunch at one of the area’s pubs and restaurants.
Gardens, castles and historic places
The famous gardens at Sissinghurst, Scotney Castle and Great Dixter are all within reach, along with a number of National Trust properties.
Walking and cycling
If you enjoy getting outdoors, there are plenty of opportunities nearby.
Bedgebury Pinetum offers beautiful walks and off-road cycling, while The Old Engineer is situated on two popular cycle routes — the Linton Loop and Paddock Wood Loop.
There is a shed within the private garden where bicycles can be stored.
Vineyards and good food
Kent is home to a growing number of highly regarded vineyards, many of which are well worth visiting.
There are also excellent pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area, giving you plenty of choices when it comes to eating out.
Tunbridge Wells
The historic spa town of Tunbridge Wells is close by, with its independent shops, well-known brands, cafés, restaurants and the historic Pantiles.
Easy to reach, easy to explore
Although The Old Engineer feels wonderfully rural, it’s conveniently located for exploring further afield.
Paddock Wood railway station is around 10 minutes away by car, with trains taking approximately 50 minutes to London.
For those attending events at The Gardens wedding venue near Yalding, it’s less than a five-minute drive away.
The Hop Farm is around a 10-minute drive and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.
